Technology Use @ the ROCK

Technology Use:

The Student Technology Acceptable Use and Safety Policy (AUP) (SBSC Policy 7540.03) provides, among other things, that the use of the district network, the Internet and other electronic resources relies heavily on the proper conduct of the users who must adhere to strict guidelines. If a student user violates any of the provisions, his/her access account will be terminated, and future access will be denied. In addition, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken which may include suspension, expulsion, or referral to law enforcement. Please also refer to the Rock Lake Middle School Student Technology Agreement for more information.

  1. Usage- The use of the account must comply with the educational goals and policies of SCPS.
  • Use of any other network or computer resources must be consistent with the rules appropriate to that network. This includes but is not limited to laws and regulations regarding:
    • copyright material;
    • threatening, obscene or profane materials;
    • material protected by trade secret.
  1. The following are prohibited:
  • Use of another individual’s account or providing individual account information to another person.
  • Use of the network for financial gain or for political or commercial activity.
  • The attempt to send or sending anonymous messages of any kind or pretending to be someone else while sending a message.
  • The attempt or actual action to access, modify, harm, or destroy another user’s data on the SCPS network.
  • Harassing, insulting, or attacking others via network communication.
  • Accessing social media platforms through the use of the district Internet access, except when expressly directed by a teacher solely for educational purposes.
  • Accessing or using the TikTok platform or any successor platform on district-owned or issued devices, over the district Internet access or using it as a platform to communicate or promote any district school-sponsored activity or event, or any district school-related organization, club, or team.
  • For additional information, refer to School Board Policy 5136 – Wireless Communication Devices.
  1. Privileges- The use of electronic networks is a privilege. Inappropriate use will result in cancellation of that privilege and referral for disciplinary/legal action. Administrators will decide if usage is appropriate and their decision is final.
  2. Security-When a student identifies a security problem, he/she must notify a teacher, media specialist, or system administrator immediately, not show or identify the problem to others.

Programs & Password Help:

eCampus

Middle School and High School teachers use our learning management system called eCampus. This system is known as Canvas outside of SCPS. Students access eCampus after accessing the Portal and clicking on the eCampus tile.

Parents can be an Observer in your child's eCampus class! To set up an observer account, your student must first create a "Pairing Code" in eCampus by following these instructions. After your student has created the pairing code, visit the eCampus web platform to register for an account. Please note, the pairing code will only work for 24 hours and can only be used once. If more than one observer needs to be added to a student account, the student will need to generate additional pairing codes. These steps must be completed through the web version of Canvas. The observer signup process cannot be done through the mobile app.

Remember, Observers can view the course content but cannot participate in the course.

Parent acounts for eCampus:

To sign up for eCampus, visit the parent eCampus website and choose the "Parents sign up here" link, and fill in the appropriate information regarding yourself and your student.

Once completed, visit the eCampus website from your computer to login with your personal e-mail and password.

FAQs about eCampus

Technology Q&A - The BASICS

NEW STUDENTS
Students who are new to Seminole County Public Schools will need to first login to the Portal/Clever (username: StudentIDNumber@student.myscps.us and initial password: birthday in format YYYYMMDD) and change to a more secure password. Once they are logged in to the Portal, they can click on the Skyward tile/link.

RETURNING STUDENTS
If the student is returning to Seminole County Public Schools, their password is the same as last year. If students cannot log in please visit the online reset tool here, or ask any of your assigned teachers to reset your password during the school day. .

**It is important to note that each student has a single account which gives them access to the computer, Portal/Clever, eCampus, and Skyward. When a student's password is reset, it is reset for ALL services.**

  1. Where can I find my schedule? Visit Skyward to view your student's schedule. If parents cannot login to Skyward please use the "forgot password" link in Skyward (Family Access).

  2. What if I can't login to the Portal/Clever? Please visit the online reset tool here, or contact your teacher to reset your password.  (See detailed password reset information below). **It is important to note that each student has a single account which gives them access to the computer, Portal/Clever, eCampus, and Skyward. 4. What if I can't find my class? Please follow the instructions on this link. If you still can't find your course, please email your teacher directly.

  5. What if I still see old courses in eCampus? You may see old courses there. That is normal. You only get added to courses; you don't get removed. Your expectation is to participate in your seven current classes.

  6. What if I get an Access Denied error in eCampus? This error is resolved by clearing the cache in the Google Chrome Web Browser. Alternatively you can access your courses by going to Courses -> All Courses

  7. What if I can't get an assignment from my teacher to work? Try another web browser. We always recommend Google Chrome. You may also need to clear the cache on your web browser. If this doesn't work please email your teacher directly.

  8. Where can I find my grades? Skyward is still the official gradebook.

Password Resets

Occasionally students may not remember their password. If you find that this is an issue, you can go to Password Reset Tool website and reset their password. As long as the primary guardian has an email address associated with your child, in Skyward FamilyAccess, you will be able to reset their password quickly. If you do not have an email associated with your child and you have a Skyward FamilyAccess account, you can log in and add your email address. If you are unable to add your email account in Skyward FamilyAccess, you are able to email/call your child's teacher to reset the password, or you can call the SCPS Help Desk at 407-320-0350. Please be aware that while we've added as many available staff as possible, the SCPS Help Desk is experiencing a high call volume. We ask for your patience and understanding as we continue to work hard to do everything possible to support our students and families during these challenging times.
